My Ideal Proofreading Environment

It was dark and stormy out. I sat comfortably on my couch, a cup of hot green tea beside me, and I was proofreading an interesting read. I was getting sucked into the story as thunder struck outside and the sound of rain pouring down outside brought me out of the narrative. I heard the rain hitting my windows and the concrete of my back patio. A bergamot smelling candle was lit and the scent was swirling around my living room. I sat back and took a sip of my tea, smelling and tasting the warm, earthy aroma. Leaning against a comfy pillow and covered in my favorite blanket, I took in my surroundings. One of my dogs was laying at my feet and the other three were laying around, encircling me. My computer was in front of me with the book that had a spellbinding storyline that I was proofreading open on it. As I took my break from proofreading, I listened to the storm outside, the light snoring from my dog at my feet, and the faint crackling of the wood wick candle on my mantle. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, mentally enjoying the relaxing sights, sounds, and smells of my atmosphere. As I opened my eyes, lightening flashed outside and thunder softly rumbled in the distance soon after. I took a moment to appreciate what was around me. A mindful moment of peace. A good book, stormy weather, a hot cup of tea, and surrounded by my dogs that love me unconditionally is my ideal proofreading environment.
